A historic neighborhood at the foot of Lookout Mountain, anchored by St.
Elmo Avenue - a strip of old brick storefronts with a coffee shop, cafes, a
tattoo shop, and the Incline Railway station
(ridetheincline.com). One of
Chattanooga's character-rich, slightly quirky 'hoods.
Mix of historic houses (many restored), bungalows, and some infill. Generally
more affordable than Northshore/East Brainerd; some homes are small and old -
get a good inspection (aging plumbing/roofs are common).
Downtown is a straight shot up Broad Street (~10 min). On event weekends,
tourist traffic to Lookout Mountain and the Incline can back things up.
Mountain residents above you contend with curvy, steep roads in ice.
