The combined town at the far north of Hamilton County, where the suburbs give
way to woods, farmland, and the Tennessee River's north end
(Wikipedia). It's the
outdoorsy, more affordable edge of the metro - land is bigger, prices lower,
and the drive downtown is longer.
Lots of older frame houses, brick ranches, and mobile homes on acreage, plus
newer subdivisions coming in along Hwy 27. Among the most affordable options
in the metro, especially for those who want space.
Downtown ~25-30 minutes via Hwy 27 south (or Hixson Pike), which backs up at
rush. There's no freeway close by; the Hwy 27 corridor is the spine. Budget
the time if you work downtown.
Soddy-Daisy has its own cluster of Hamilton County schools (Soddy, Daisy,
Soddy-Daisy Middle, and Soddy-Daisy High)
(hcde.org). Good local schools by reputation;
verify zones.
